From the recording Life Lives Inside
Written and recorded in Flo’s living room, ‘Life Lives Inside’ shares the story of the evolving connection between a human and a bird, out at sea. It is a metaphor for the importance of connection whilst adrift in the unknown, reflecting these uncertain times.
London born and bred, Flo Perlin and Pilgrims’ Dream met each other at an open mic a few years ago, at a pivotal time in their lives. Both were suffering with chronic illnesses and through their friendship found meaning, which is reflected in the music they write together.
Lyrics
If I was a bird, well I‘d watch your boat sink
I’d follow the clouds, where there’s no need to think
But when the sky turns blue
You gotta have faith in everything that you do
And when your face catches my eye
Life Lives inside of you
We pray to the sea, but where was the shore?
We gave what we could, we couldn’t give more
And I asked the Lord, don’t go away
And I asked the Lord, don’t let the night turn into day
Mm-mmm
If I was a boat, well I’d carry that bird
The bird sang a tune like nothing I’d heard
But when the sky turns blue
You gotta have faith in everything that you do
And when your face catches my eye
Life Lives inside of you
We pray to the sea, but where was the shore?
We gave what we could, we couldn’t give more
And I asked the Lord, don’t go away
And I asked the Lord, don’t let the night turn into day
Mm-mmm
We pray to the sea, but where was the shore?
We gave what we could, we couldn’t give more
And I asked the Lord, don’t go away
